Vocal cords
Vocal folds vibrate across the larynx, controlling the air that comes out from our lungs. It's one of the major parts of how we are able to speak. Think on it. Oscillating vocal folds, mucous-y pink cords and whistling air, control every politician's speech, every child's argument, every scholar's brilliant idea.
Linguistics, speech, the rich quality of a well-modulated, vowel-clipped voice determines how you can judge me. Did I stutter? It must be a reflection of my intelligence. Did I fumble with wording? That's it, she's fresh off the boat. Ah, but if I'm calm, my tone is steady and I have a vocabulary great enough to make your SAT reading teachers look up with pride, then my humanity can be confirmed.
But it's just oscillating vocal folds and a slippery tongue mammals are born with. Don't judge an audiobook by its track.
